DARK HONEY was recorded during a rehearsal session on December 14, 2024. We revisited the song "Pacific Trash Vortex" (from the album SULFUR, released in 2018), a favorite often requested by our friend Silver Cris at every show. I don’t think we’ve ever played this song live! The title track, "Dark Honey," serves as a soundtrack for films where we take long walks through city streets, evoking the atmospheres of directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Jean-Luc Godard, Gus Van Sant, Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders, Aki Kaurismäki, Hal Hartley, and Wong Kar-wai.
The other tracks are improvisations—an exploration of new directions since we just finished recording a new album a week before. Let's see where we go next. "What?", "Who?", and "Why?" were selected by Julia, while "Shades" and "Don't Follow Me" were my choices. This session was recorded by Mari Crestani at the new 7Lira studio in Porta, São Paulo.
